Questions and answers about editing QR menu products

Everything you need to know to easily manage products in your digital menu.

How do I add a new product to my QR menu in Menivo?

Adding a new product is a simple and quick process. After logging into your Menivo account, follow these steps:

  • Go to your restaurant's section and select the desired menu.
  • Choose the category where you want to add the product (e.g., Appetizers, Main Courses).
  • Press the "Add product" button and fill in the fields: name, description, ingredients, price and weight.
  • Upload an appetizing photo of the product — accepted formats include JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP, up to 10 MB.
  • Select the applicable allergens and save the product.

Once saved, the product immediately appears in the digital menu accessed by scanning the QR code. Also check out the complete tutorial on how to add and create products in the menu for a detailed visual guide.

How do I edit an existing product in the QR menu?

The process of editing products in QR menu in Menivo is intuitive. Navigate to the product you want to modify, press the edit button (pencil icon) and you will be redirected to the edit form.

From the edit form you can modify:

  • The product name (in Romanian and optionally in English)
  • The description and ingredients
  • The price and weight
  • The product photo
  • Associated allergens
  • Frozen product status

After saving, the changes are instantly reflected in the menu viewed by your customers via QR code.

Can I add allergens to menu products? Is it mandatory?

Yes, Menivo allows adding allergens directly to each individual product, through a multiple selection system based on the standardized list of food allergens. Marking allergens is not just good practice — in Romania there are clear legal obligations regarding consumer information.

The platform also provides an AI-based allergen generator, which automatically suggests suitable allergens based on the entered ingredients. Learn more from the guide on how to use the AI-based food allergen generator.

For a complete picture of the legal obligations, also read the article restaurant food allergens – legal obligations in Romania.

How do I add nutritional values to products in the digital menu?

Menivo has a built-in nutritional value calculator that allows you to enter information such as calories, protein, fat and carbohydrates for each individual product. This information is transparently displayed to customers when they scan the QR code and view the menu.

You can use the nutritional value calculator for Menivo menu to automatically calculate values based on ingredients, saving valuable time. Additional details can also be found in the dedicated article about the Menivo nutritional value calculator.

Can I change the order of products within a category?

Absolutely. Menivo offers a drag-and-drop editor that allows you to easily reorder products within a category, by dragging and dropping. The updated order is saved automatically and is immediately reflected in the menu seen by customers.

The same principle applies at the category level — you can reorganize the entire menu structure without deleting or recreating anything. See the guide how to reorder and reorganize categories in the menu for detailed instructions.

How do I delete a product from the QR menu?

Deleting a product is done from that category's product list. Press the delete icon (trash bin) next to the product, confirm the action in the dialog box and the product will be permanently removed from the menu.

Warning: deletion is irreversible. If you want to temporarily hide a product without deleting it, consider the option of deactivating it or moving it to an archive category, until you wish to reactivate it.

Can I duplicate an existing product to save time?

Yes! Menivo provides a product duplication feature. This is especially useful when you have similar products that differ only in a few details (for example, the same dish in two different weights or variants with/without a certain ingredient).

Press the duplicate button next to the product, and the system will create an identical copy that you can immediately edit with the necessary changes, without filling in all fields from scratch.

Does the QR menu update automatically after I edit a product?

Yes, this is one of the biggest advantages of a digital QR menu over printed menus. Any change made — whether you add a new product, change a price or update a description — instantly appears in the menu accessed by customers by scanning the QR code.

There is no need to print a new menu, there are no additional costs and you don't need to redistribute a new QR code. The same QR code remains valid forever and always displays the updated version of the menu. Learn more about what a digital QR menu is and why restaurants need it.

Can I add products in multiple languages?

Yes, Menivo supports content entry in two languages: Romanian and English. For each product you can fill in the name, description and ingredients both in Romanian (mandatory field) and in English (optional field).

This feature is ideal for restaurants in tourist areas or those serving international customers, providing a pleasant browsing experience regardless of the speaker's language.

Is there a limit to the number of products I can add to the menu?

The number of available products depends on the chosen subscription plan. Menivo offers several subscription tiers, each with different limits regarding the number of products per category, the number of categories and the number of managed restaurants.

You can check your current subscription limit directly from the admin panel, in the dedicated subscription section. If you need more space, you can upgrade to a higher plan at any time.

Can I import products in bulk, without adding them manually one by one?

Yes, Menivo offers an import function from Excel files (.xlsx or .xls format), which allows you to bulk upload restaurants, categories and products from a single structured file. This is extremely useful when initially setting up a menu with dozens or hundreds of products.

You can download the import template directly from the app, fill in the data according to the indicated structure and upload the file. The system will automatically process all the information and create the products in the menu. Check out the step-by-step guide for creating a restaurant menu in Menivo for complete details.

What image formats are accepted for product photos?

Menivo accepts images in JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP formats, with a maximum size of 10 MB per photo. To provide an optimal upload experience, the platform automatically processes uploaded images: it resizes them to the recommended maximum width and converts them to WebP format (at 90% quality), significantly reducing file size without affecting visual quality.

We recommend using high-quality photos, with a neutral background and good lighting, to catch customers' attention and increase the order rate of those products.
